          Fowlers Troop today

The Deptford Jack, a revival of the 1900s Jack, always goes out on May Day to mark the start of spring.

The Jack in the Green usually processes from pub to pub accompanied by his attendants and musicians.

The revival Jack was started by Blackheath Morris Men in the early 1980s when they wanted something eye catching to take out when they danced.

Most people enjoy seeing the Jack. Those who do not may be trying to enjoy a quiet pint at the pub when he arrives.

If you are in South East London or the City of London on May Day, you might see the Deptford Jack in the Green - he could be in Deptford, or Greenwich, the Borough or the City of London.

Fowlers Troop wish to thank David Aylward and his team who have organised the route this year and will also be joining us in what promises to be a fantastic centenary celebration.
